Quick Senate Bean Soup

Ingredients

Amount Measure Ingredient
1 poundItalian or country sausage
1onion -- chopped
4 cans(1-pound) navy beans
salt andpepper to taste

Directions

Combine the sausage and the onion in a saucepan and cook over medium-high heatuntil the sausage is browned and the onion is translucent. Break up the sausagewith a spoon so that it crumbles. Add navy beans and as much water as you like toget a souplike consistency. Before serving, bring to boil, then season with saltand generously with pepper.Serve with corn bread
